1. Keep it simple!

Never let yourself go crazy when it comes to the layout of your blog. Of course, there are tons of things that you want to convey to your readers and plenty of images you could use to enhance your writing. However, when it comes to the look of your blog, less is definitely more. These days, users hate to sift through endless amounts of information in order to find the things that are most relevant to them. When someone visits your blog, make it easy for them to navigate, and don’t overwhelm them with too many things on the page at once. The more visually-streamlined your blog, the better.

2. Use color with purpose.

Color is a great way to help your users cue in to the feel of your blog, and evoke vertain emotions. Color is one of the most useful tools that a designer has in their toolkit. However, that is exactly what we must remember color is a tool. Color can evoke feelings of calm just as easily as it can evoke feelings of stress. Ask yourself, what do you want your users to be feeling when they’re on your blog? If your color scheme doesn’t reflect your purpose, you’re users will have trouble getting in touch with you. Use color in order to add visual interest. Don’t use too little, and don’t use too much. It’s a fine line, but, if you take the time to think about it, you will be sure to hit the right note.

3. When it comes to images go for quality rather than quantity.

Images are another hugely important element of any website or blog. People can read images within seconds, and the images on your blog may be what determines whether a new user decides to read the information, or skip over your blog entirely. Choose your images with care, and select things that clearly have a reason for being on your site. Also, use as high-quality images as you can afford. Don’t skimp on this, because it is clear to users whether your blog has quality imagery, and their opinion of your blog will be affected by that.

4. Use your words wisely!

Most blogs use words as their main source of content. Bloggers write about topics as wide-ranging as forestry to celebrity gossip. Basically, if there is a topic out there, there is some blogger covering it. This means that most bloggers have quite a bit to say about their chosen subject matter. However, make sure that you don’t bring too many words into the over-all look and layout of your blog. Instead of using wordy titles and descriptions, cut down the word count as much as possible and save that for your actual articles. In fact, a great way to mark your articles is by using some form of visual indicator that is representative of the content of that article, and maybe includes a portion of the title. This way, users can get insight into what an article is about without having to do major surfing and clicking.

Follow these simple rules, and your blog should not only look better, but feel better, to users in no time!

Now comes the social media thing: Now it’s time to share with all that what you did. Sign up for popular sites like Digg, Twitter, Facebook and start sharing! Remember sharing is caring, but spamming is abusing! So share only once at a time what you like.

Guest Posting: Yes! Just like social media guest posting is too like a sea of link backs and money. One can easily make money by writing on other sites. I think most of the all blogs are revenue sharing and gives a link back too, to the blog. Some blogs even pay per post. Advertise!: Finally! once you are over with all that your blog is ready to show advertisements. There are several ad networks available to go with, but try to get approved for Adsense though it may take some time to get approved for it, but believe me it pays a lot better than any other ad network. If you don’t get approved for it, don’t worry there are some alternatives too, but as I told you they all depends on the site you own. So luck! Some alternatives are:

It doesn’t matter what methods you are using to get traffic – organic search engine traffic, PPC, email marketing or anything else, if your landing page can’t convince the visitor to take the desired action and convert them to customers then you are just wasting your money.

Control the content which your visitors can see and show them the things which you want them to see. Provide them with a suitable environment where they can take the decision which you want them to take.

Easy to Use – Keep your landing pages simple and user friendly. Avoid usage of flash, iframes, pop-ups, heavy images and other obtrusive elements which can increase its loading time. Make sure that your landing pages works well in all popular browsers in default settings and don’t require any custom software to work properly. Try to provide them with the simplest path for completing the desired action. If you want your users to complete a form then try to keep it as short as possible. Auto-populate fields wherever possible. If you are trying to sell a product then provide multiple ways of payment to pay so that they can use any method according to their convenience.

Sometime backs I shared tips to choose right Web-hosting service providers and our editor posted a review about HostGator services (both posts helped a lot to our readers, we got a great response from them), but we didn’t give the proper answers to the questions that every blogger does ask (who care about their traffic and all, not those who just choose hosting blindly and cry later-on). Tonight I am going to give all information that a blogger should know before choosing a host.

There are three types of Web-hosting available, and all three depends on which type of site and how much traffic you have. Types of hosting are:

• Shared: In this type of hosting the server is shared by a lot of people and any can use your server resource any time in any possible way without giving any credit. If you have small, static, or newly WordPress powered blogs that doesn’t have a lot of time, then it is OK to start your blogging journey with it.
• Dedicated: A dedicated hosting service, dedicated server, or managed hosting service is a type of Internet hosting in which the client leases an entire server not shared with anyone (from WikiPidea). This type of web hosting is too costly and we wouldn’t suggest you that go for it until you have a lot of traffic because if you don’t, then it is full loss of money.
• VPS: This type of hosting is best for you even if you are not a tech savvy. In this server a physical computer server is divided in multiple servers. If you are expecting a spike in traffic from social media sites, then this one the server which suits you the best.

Tips to choose

• First thing before choosing the right service provider for you is you should know which server suits you the most, depending on the type of the site you have. I have written about all three types of hosting available in above stanzas (read them once more).
• Once you know the type of Web-hosting that suits you the best, next step is to start reading the reviews about them (read not on their sites, but also on others). If possible try to monitor some of their servers for  sometime.
• Last point, but not the least is to check their response. Contact them (about the server) and see how much time do they take.

Well, honestly telling I have seen many servers, but only found two companies worth reviewing.

In many of my previous posts I told you all about the ‘More’ tag SEO issue, it was not clear to some of the bloggers. Some of my friends even contacted me for the details. Instead of giving the information about it and its issues in WordPress I found writing about it is a better way to let all know. The ‘More tag’ is actually a tag generated and inserted in the post section by a button present present above the ‘content’ section of the WordPress, used to create a ‘Read More..’ or ‘Continue reading’ link in the posts on home screen, tags, categories, pages and search pages. Well, if you think this small tag does play an important role, then you should not be calling yourself a blogger because none of the features in WordPress is useless. Every feature plays an important role and like all it does too. In this post I am going to tell you WHEN and WHEN NOT to use this tag in your blog. I am sure that I would help you.

When to use?

Ok! the ‘More’ tag comes default in WordPress installation and one can easily insert it by pressing ALT + SHIFT + T. The question which might arise in some readers is in last post I told that using more tag is not good as it creates a # tag at the end of the URL and creates a duplicate of the original post that is not good for SEO. Yeah! I told this, but this thing does not matter when is blog is just two three months old? Moreover, I am telling this because it is always suggested not to make any severe changes in a blog for first three-fourth month until the blogs get Google love. So if your blog is not too old, then use it!

When NOT to use it?

When the initial period of your blog gets overerd you are free to remove this tag and I will tell you how can you how do that just keep on reading. Now assume that initial period of your blog is overed and you want a professional blog. To make it look professional I am sure you would like to remove the dirt looking link of ‘Read more..’ or ‘Continue reading’. Moreover, now you might start caring about the SEO matter (as I assume you might have Google Love until now and does not want to get it a lost). You remove the tag there are many options like by hacking your WordPress files, but that is risky and you have to take a backup of your blog to try that. The another method is by using a plug-in called Thumbnail For Excerpts.

The idea of this plugin is to make excerpts have an image near. By default, WordPress strip every tag in excerpts, including images, so the look can be boring.

This plug-in would remove the bad looking read more links from the screen of your blog, add a thumbnail (will automatically add it by searching the post) with excerpts. The best thing about it is that you can easily change the width and the height of the thumbnail according to the color and design of your theme.
